RE: The White Rose .......Resisters & Rescuers
The White Rose Home Page -- A tribute site to the members of the White Rose.
Memories of the White Rose by Dr. George J. Wittenstein. Dr.
Wittenstein is one of only two survivors of the inner circle of the White Rose. At this
site, the History Place has archived four fascinating lectures he delivered in Los Angeles
recently. An excellent first-person account.
Rescuers: Remembering those who risked their
security and their lives to save victims of the Nazis.
Heroes of the Holocaust Read about others beside the White
Rose who stood with the victims of tyranny and terror.
Literature of the
Holocaust An
excellent site for source materials for students and researchers.
RE: The Revival of Slavery in
Our Time
Christian Solidarity International CSI, based in the UK, has
done much of the footwork exposing the existence of slavery in the Sudan. Their work is
solid and their information is up to date.
American Anti-Slavery Group Dr. Charles Jacobs has brought a
crusader's passion to this site publicizing the plight of those caught up in the web of
slavery in the Sudan and elsewhere in the world. He is a diligent researcher inspired by
the example of those who ran the Underground Railroad of the mid-19th century.
CASMAS The Coalition Against Slavery in Mauritania and Sudan, Inc.
publicizes information about the condition of those trapped by slavery in both
south-central and northern Africa. The plight of Mauritanian slavery is too often
overlooked because its victims are less often Christians and they lack a concerned
constiuency in the West. This sit helps fill in the gaps.
The Persecuted Church Day of Prayer An excellent site by the World
Evangelical Fellowship publicizing the plight of Christians in Sudan (as well as other
situations of persecution) and coordinating the efforts of numerous organizations around
the world in a corporate day of prayer. This is an excellent location for those seeking
materials and activities to share within their own churches.
RE: Defending the Vital Flow of
Information
The Committee to Protect Journalists CPJ maintains a worldwide
database documenting efforts by governments and other groups to harass, censor,
imprison and even murder journalists. Summaries of incidents and follow-up actions by CPJ,
as well as a a list of contact addresses, telephone numbers and fax numbers are
given. A frontline information source.
International Freedom of Expression Exchange IFEX also maintains a roster of
news releases, news summaries, etc. that chronicles attacks on journalists. The IFEX
monthly alerts are very informative.
